Few spots along the Turquoise Coast have left such a lasting impression on me as Yazz Collective, a sleek boutique hotel and beach club in its own private cove, just six miles southwest of the charming resort town of Fethiye. Accessible only by boat, Yazz is the epitome of laid-back luxury. It has a timeless indoor-outdoor design and a calm, peaceful vibe that makes you feel instantly relaxed — no mean feat with a demanding toddler in tow.

Set at the foot of towering, limestone cliffs, the hotel features a handful of stylish rooms, scattered across the lush gardens planted with carob, citrus, olive and pine trees. It also has a restaurant and craft bar with spectacular sea views, an outdoor gym, a Balinese-inspired spa, and an on-site gallery spotlighting emerging and established Turkish artists.

In high season, you’ll likely see large-scale outdoor sculptures installed across the grounds as part of the hotel’s programme of temporary art exhibitions. Last year’s show, which was curated by Gökşen Buğra of Istanbul’s Galeri Bosfor, included beautiful works by Erman Özbaşaran, Ahmet Çerkez and Işıl Kapu, among others. Bub was transfixed by those bears by Ipek Yücesoy!

There’s no communal pool, but it’s no matter as the long, pebbled beach is where much of the action happens. Yacht spotting is a favoured way to while away the time as is swimming languorously in the sparkling, turquoise sea. For those welded to their sun beds, cocktails and food can be ordered beachside. There is also a grassy, shaded area that is perfect for spreading out with little ones.

Interiors throughout are smart and modern, with an emphasis on reclaimed and natural materials. The single-storey guesthouses blend so seamlessly into the surrounding landscape that you could easily miss them if you didn’t know they were there.

Inside, bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, with huge walk-in-wardrobes, floor-to-ceiling windows, heavenly beds and elegant sitting areas. All have outdoor terraces, while some boast alfresco showers too.

The restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, is helmed by chef Gökçen Yıldırım who has made his name with his zero-waste approach. Long, lazy breakfasts are followed by equally lengthy lunches of seasonal Mediterranean dishes and Turkish classics such as pide, lahmacun, grilled meats and delicious, fresh fish.

The restaurant atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with guests wafting in and out in swimwear, kaftans and Carolina Herrera sandals. In typical Turkish fashion, weekends see the vibe shift up a notch as hotel guests mingle with well-heeled locals and yacht owners who come for sundowners and the raucous after-dinner parties.

A deliciously chic hideaway, Yazz is somewhere that you’ll want to go back to again — and again.
